It operates based on the measurement of the critical angle of refraction, which is related to the refractive indices of the reference prism and the sample. This analytical instrument is designed to provide high-accuracy measurements, essential for determining the purity of solutions and analyzing the concentration of specific substances. Its robust and compact construction includes an optical system based on high refractive index glass prisms, Amici prisms for chromatic dispersion correction, and a telescope for clear reading of results. Accuracy is further enhanced by the presence of connections for the thermostating of the prisms, which allows for maintaining a constant temperature of the sample.
